Founder
Jimmy Chand
Jimmy’s Barber Shop was founded by Vongsack Chandakham also known as “Jimmy Chand”.
Originally from Laos, Jimmy escaped the communist country in 1979 and immigrated to the states in 1981. His first job was a dishwasher in a hotel kitchen. In 1985 he was able to save enough money to attend a barber school in Forest Park, Georgia.
After graduating barber school he worked the next 8 years gaining the experience and expertise until he opened his own shop in 1994.
Jimmy takes great pride in sharing his struggles and never forgets where he came from. He appreciates his opportunity and now gives back to his hometown in Luang-Prabang, Laos. In 2006 him and his family funded a school and continues to raise money for the next generation of Laotian children for a better future.
